“MERRYING” the Spirit of Christmas in Scandinavia!

Christmas-Market-StockholmChristmas is round the corner and the year is about to fade away, this part of the calendar year is meant for jubilation, fun and frolic. A part of the year that is attached to vacations and festivity. Each part of the globe has its own ways and cultures, different methods of celebrating. The Scandinavian celebration of this festival is still influenced by the traditional Christian style. International Holiday packages are suitably made for helping you attain the complete experience of a special festive vacation. The Scandinavian countries are just nearing their darkest days approaching the solstice. The festive season brings hope of the brighter days ahead.
The beauty of the nature bedecked with a white snowy cover is synonymous with Christmas and the shimmering of the Northern Lights.  The northern horizon is illuminated with a greenish glow or sometimes a faint red. These Northern Lights seem like a peculiar effect, as if the Sun were rising from an unusual direction.
Sweden celebrates its festival, St. Lucia festival of lights, on December 13, which is marked as the day where Lucia candles burn bright.  Another sweet tradition belonging to the day is that a special girl is chosen to carry a wreath of burning candles on her head. The festive Scandinavia Holidaysseason brings along with it the Festive Food. Ginger bread is the most common treat found all over the market places and bakeries. This special dish is a mark of the Christmas goodies like: fried apple dough balls, marzipan ring cakes.
Denmark Christmas Eves are completely imperfect without Glögg. This traditional drink is hot red wine with small portions of brandy, rum, or snaps. These are spiced with cinnamon, cardamom, raisins and almonds. On some occasions a little squeeze of citrus is added.  The markets are decorated with strings of festive lights and the hustle and bustle of the collection of shops and stalls, which add the festivity in the air. The streets are filled with people buying new woollens, savours and watching reindeer enclosures. Christmas Carnivals and exciting roller coaster rides are the most fascinating source of entertainment. That is what Christmas is all about, joy and prayers!
Christmas is a special time for the Norwegians as well. The shorter and darker days create the urge for warmer and cozy fireplaces in the house. This part of the globe can be visualized just like the fairytale fantasies of burning fire places and chimney tops puffing out the smoke.  The whole Christmas atmosphere can be relished and experienced while on your Luxury Scandinavian Holidays.
